Furnish Your Home With Free Stuff -- Beautifully!

The holidays are right around the corner, and many of us are thinking about sprucing up our homes, in preparation. With tight budgets, the task can feel a bit daunting, but it doesn't have to be. You don't need a lot of money to create a beautiful home. In fact, sometimes you don't need any money!

This morning, a quick scroll items being offered up for FREE on Craigslist turned up scores of awesome stuff.
Those vintage office chairs, in the above picture, are pretty cool as they are, but a can of metallic spray paint, and a cute pillow will take them to the next level. This vintage chair, from The Craft Patch Blog, is way too cute.

This piano is a beauty, but it's likely not able to be tuned or to hold a tune anymore. Still, it's a lovely piece of furniture, and it's "desk height" gives it lots of potential.

One writer shared their project for creating an apartment workbench here.

This piano harp and sound board were also offered up. It has such a sculptural quality!

Folks are doing all sorts of creative things with old piano harps, from coffee table to wall art.

These dated bedside tables look like they are pretty sturdy and worth giving a makeover.

Imagine how nice they would look, with a fresh coat of paint! You can almost always find free paint on Craigslist, too.

I adore anything industrial, and these three stools are no exception. They are charming as they are, but with some paint and new seats, they could knock your socks off!

For inspiration, check out these stools, from Rain on a Tin Roof.

Sometimes, you'll find things that don't need any makeovers, like this sweet little table.

Have a fireplace? Dress it up with some pretty birch logs.

This gorgeous fireplace, from Modern Chemistry at Home, is perfectly dressed, with it's stack of birch logs.

No coat closet? Here's a FREE coat rack. It's cute just like it is, but you can paint it to fit your decor.

Can you believe this table and six chairs are FREE?

Sure, the dining set looks a little dated, but it's nothing a little paint won't fix.  Check out this painted set from Maine Cottage, for inspiration.

Decorating with cactus is all the rage, right now, but tall one like this are pretty expensive.

How cute is this space, with it's cactus decor?

There is possibility all around us -- you just have to look. I hope this post has inspired you to take a cast off, and save it from the landfill. So many free items still have a lot of use left in them.
