My Dear Friend's Junk Journal

Last week, I shared a tutorial on how to make a junk journal, using an O-ring binding machine. This week, I am sharing a flip through of the journal my friend made during that same creative session.

We were both using the same supplies, and the same binding system, but our books turned out very different.

My friend, Becky, chose a 1954 Reader's Digest that had a lovely aged patina.  After removing the pages from the book, she sorted through our pile of ephemera, and chose the papers she wanted to use.

Anything goes, with this type of journal. Here, Becky used old yellowed planner pages and a bingo card in her book.

She also made packet pages from some old manila photos envelopes.

I loved the story of family Becky told, with her flash cards.

1+1=2 is about how she met and married her husband.

2+3=5 represents their three children, and their family of five.

3+5=8 represents the addition of daughters-in-law and a grandchild.

The question mark and the heart represent future additions to the family.

When Becky returned home to Colorado, she brought her lovely journal with her -- a kind of keepsake of our time creating together by the sea.
