The World's Easiest Word Banner

Sometimes you only have five minutes to spare, but that's all you need to create a little JOY banner like this one!

This project couldn't be easier, and you don't need any fancy machines or expensive materials.

You just need some old greeting cards.  I don't know about you, but I just can't bring myself to throw old cards away!  I had this pretty card that said "JOY" on the front, but you may have one that says "ho ho ho!" or "Peace on Earth" or anything.  Use whatever you have on hand. Simply grab your scissors and cut out the letters.

My greeting card already had some "dimension", but you can use any flat card and your results will be just as pretty.

Find a length of ribbon, cord, string, or twine -- I used a random piece of hem tape from the junk drawer. Get creative here. One of my all time favorite garlands was made from torn strips of crinoline.

Glue your letters to the ribbon, and swag it over a picture or mirror or mantel. I've used a piece of wood salvaged from the sea by my friend Senja.  There is a beach on the Pacific coast where houses are being claimed by the sea. After the sea has tossed them about, my friend Senja salvages beautiful architectural mementos of these old homes to repurpose.

I layered my JOY banner with another easy banner that I will share later this week. I think it looks sweet with the piece of salvaged beach wood on our mantel.

There you go! Done, and done!
